People come to this site under real time pressure, sometimes on an old phone, sometimes with a screen reader. It should work for all of them.

What I aim for

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at level AA. That is the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is usable by people with disabilities.

What that means in practice here

Every page has one main heading and a proper heading order, so a screen reader can navigate the page by structure.
There is a skip link to jump straight to the main content.
Every form field has a real label, and the errors say what to fix in words.
The whole site works with a keyboard alone, and the focus outline is visible.
Text and background colors meet the AA contrast ratio.
Buttons and links are large enough to hit accurately on a phone.
Photographs carry text descriptions.
The gallery of finished work stops moving if your device is set to reduce motion, and it does not move at all until it is on screen.
The page reflows to a phone without sideways scrolling and at 200 per cent zoom.

Known limitations

Being honest about the gaps is more useful than claiming there are none.

The photographs are described by what they show at a room level. Someone using a screen reader gets less detail from them than a sighted visitor does.
The form protection uses Google reCAPTCHA, which is a third-party component I do not control.
Automated testing catches only part of what the guidelines cover, so some issues will be found by people rather than by tools. Please tell me when you find one.
